Child Custody and COVID-19

Do I have to allow my child to see his or her mother or father?

Governor Scott’s Stay-At-Home order, and order that anyone entering Vermont for a non-essential purpose must quarantine for 14 days, have created a lot of confusion for families whose children are subject to visitation orders from the court.

Early guidance informed families that all court orders for parent child visitation and contact are still in effect.  That means that parents must send their children to see the other parent on the same schedule as existed before Governor Scott issued any Executive Orders.

If you have concerns, the court is open to hear only emergency motions related to parent child contact.
